In the first year of awarding grants funded by the Scheiber Emeriti Faculty Research Fund, the Committee on Research (COR) has awarded research grants to three Berkeley emeriti for projects related to this year's commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of Women at UC Berkeley:

  • Catherine Gallagher (English): Comparative Study of Women's Research in the Humanities and Interpretive Social Sciences, 1970-1990

  • Zinmay Renee Sung (Plant & Microbial Biology): History of Asian American Women at UC Berkeley

The world’s first women’s intercollegiate basketball game was played in 1896 between Stanford and the University of California. 125 years later, Cal and Stanford face each other again in Haas Pavilion at 5 PM. This event will feature a festive launch of the 150W celebration. Tickets are available at calbears.com.
